How Essix Retainers Work
Essix retainers are made from digital scans of your teeth, creating a custom fit that fully covers your smile. They are removable, easy to wear, and nearly invisible, so they fit into your daily routine without drawing attention.
You can take them out to eat, brush, and floss, then place them back in as directed by our team.
Theroux Phase 1 Retainers

How To Care For Your Retainer
Your retainer works best when it fits well, stays clean, and remains in good shape. A little daily care can help your retainer last longer and keep your smile protected.
Follow these retainer care tips:
- Wear your retainer exactly as directed by Dr. Rob.
- Remove your retainer before eating or drinking anything besides water.
- Keep your retainer in its case whenever it is not in your mouth.
- Bring your retainer to follow-up visits so we can check the fit.
- Call us quickly if your retainer feels tight, loose, cracked, or broken.
- Call us right away if you lose your retainer so we can help prevent shifting.
- Clean your retainer daily with a toothbrush and cool or lukewarm water.
- Keep your retainer away from heat, including hot water, hot cars, washing machines, dryers, and pockets.
- Practice speaking out loud while wearing your retainer if your mouth needs time to adjust.
